About This Event
Supporting the Fort Worth Zoo's conservation programs, the Zoo Run Run will be held Saturday, April 22, 2006. The Cheetah Chase Adult 5K (14 years or older), Zebra Zoom Family 5K, and Cub Crawl 1-Mile Fun Run will start and finish on Colonial Parkway next to the Zoo's main entrance. Participants will experience the Zoo's lush wildlife as they run or walk along the Zoo's main path. The Cheetah Chase and Zebra Zoom will also lead participants through the beautiful neighborhoods surrounding the Zoo.
Parking
ALL RACE PARTICIPANTS AND GUESTS MUST ENTER THE ZOO’S MAIN PARKING LOT FROM FOREST PARK BLVD. Colonial Parkway will not be accessible from University Drive. All traffic will be routed to Forest Park Blvd. From Forest Park Blvd., turn west on Park Place, then west on Colonial Parkway. Parking is limited, so please carpool and allow at least 45 minutes for parking. Additional parking will be available at the University River Plaza Terrace Building, located off of University Drive.
Teams & School Groups
Teams must consist of five or more, and school groups must consist of 10 or more. Teams and school groups may ONLY register for the Zebra Zoom. LAST DAY FOR TEAM MEMBER OR SCHOOL GROUP APPLICATIONS IS APRIL 7, 2006 & MUST BE TURNED IN OR MAILED AT THE SAME TIME BY ONE PERSON. Packets can be delivered after April 17, 2006, for a $10 fee. Otherwise, team or school contacts MUST pick up their packets by April 21, 2006.
Race Guidelines
No pets, bicycles or skates are permitted on the 5K course. Must be 14 years or older to participate in the Cheetah Chase Adult 5K, with a suggested finish time of under 40 minutes. Strollers are not permitted in the Cheetah Chase Adult 5K. Zebra Zoom Family 5K is open to anyone. Teams & school groups may ONLY enter the Zebra Zoom 5K. Due to safety concerns, the Fort Worth Police Department will designate the last participant to start the race course. After this time, no runners will be allowed to start the race.
Team & School Group Awards
Awards are given to 1st, 2nd & 3rd teams & school groups. 1st place school group wins a trip to the Zoo, 30 people maximum, including an animal presentation. An award will be presented to largest team and school group completing the race. Team and school group participants are eligible for individual awards. Results to be posted April 25, 2006, at Zoo’s Guest Relations office & www.fortworthzoo.org. Unclaimed awards may be picked up April 25, 2006, at Zoo’s administration office, Monday-Friday, 9am - 5pm.
Individual Awards
1st place awards will be given for Cheetah Chase Adult 5K and Zebra Zoom Family 5K overall male and female, open and masters divisions. First, second and third place awards will be given to males and females who are the top three finishers in these age groups: 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and up.
Waiver and Release
I hereby release and hold harmless the Fort Worth Zoological Association and any of its officers, directors, employees and associates from and against any and all damages related to any injury or accident incurred in connection with the Cheetah Chase Adult 5K, the Zebra Zoom Family 5K and the Cub Crawl 1-Mile Fun Run. Further, I grant the Association permission to use any photographic or videotape recordings of my participation in the event for any legitimate purposes. The race will be held regardleass of weather conditions. Registration is final, and no refunds will be given.
