About This Event
The 26th Best Dam Run & Walk in Oregon will again feature a 10K (6.2 mile) certified run & walk along a gentle stretch of the scenic and wild Clackamas River. The course begins on North Fork Lake and follows the river to Estacada's historic City Hall. Reminiscent of the Lake Tahoe Rim Run, this beautiful course features a gentle downhill race with views of the lake, bald eagles, nesting osprey, Northwest forests, wildlife and interesting geology. We are limited to the 1st 500 applicants so don't delay.
What is the Best Dam Run & Walk?
Organized in 1983 to benefit local youth sports The ORRC Best Dam Run & Walk continues a tradition of creating a fun event to benefit youth activities. This year's event again features a beautiful course, wonderful awards and benefits the sponsoring organizations with proceeds to Estacada's new Wade Creek Park.
Where is it?
The Best Dam Run & Walk is in Estacada, just 25 miles SE of Portland, Oregon. Take I-205 South from Portland exiting at Clackamas, exit 12A, and follow highway 224 East 19 miles to Estacada's City Hall at Highway 224 & Main Street. Registration and packet pick up is at City Hall. Entrants will be bussed to the races start and the finish line is at City Hall on Broadway St.
When
The 26th Best Dam Run & Walk is on Saturday, September 26, 2009. The race begins at 10:00 AM sharp so be at City Hall by 9:30 AM to take the bus to the race's start. This time of year is usually perfect for running and walking events. The temperature is usually cool and Indian Summers often continue sunny weather.
What are the Awards?
The best reward is the fun experience but for those who like something more tangible we also award the over-all winners in both running and walking categories personalized podium jackets compliments of Pace Setter Athletic and Brooks. The first three finishers in each ORRC category (both running and walking) will receive ribbons. Medals will be distributed to all walker finishers and to runners as they last. Free prizes will also be raffled.
Who are the Sponsors
Without our sponsors we would not be able to provide this 26th year event. Please thank the Oregon Road Runners Club and the Estacada Development Association for being the sponsoring organizations. Pace Setter Athletic is again our main sponsor. Co-sponsors are PGE, Estacada Curves, Dr. Richard Orth, Eagle Foundry, Willamette Falls Hospital, Brooks Shoes and Apparel, Les Schwab Tires, and Trillium Web Solutions.
