The events include a 4 mi. run and fitness walk & a half mile Tot Trot for those 11 years or younger. The Turkey Trot is a benefit for the Oregon Zoo. GOBBLE UP a good time, for a GREAT cause, and still get home early enough to enjoy your Thanksgiving Day meal! More details are at: www.orrc.net. Event is limited to the first 3,000 entries.
RUN, WALK OR TROT - SOMETHING FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
ORRC Turkey Trot is a 4 mile run, a 4 mile fitness walk and a half mile Tot Trot, on Thanksgiving Day morning, starting at 8 am. Held at the Oregon Zoo/Forestry Center (on the west side of Portland, off of US Highway 26/Sunset Highway - or get off at the Zoo stop on the westside Max line). A benefit for the Oregon Zoo. Families are welcome - and check out the great family rate (for up to two "Adult Rate" entries and up to 3 Youth Rate entries (age 11 & under) for members of an immediate family).
THREE "WAVE" START
A three "wave" start for this year's event: runners at 8:00 am, walkers at 8:15 am, and late starters and others at 8:30 am. Catch the "wave"! The Tot Trot is at 9:45 am. All events are noncompetitive, and geared to fun. There are no AWARDS but there are plenty of REWARDS from helping a good cause (the Oregon Zoo). The events start and end near the Zoo. A clock will be at the finish, for self-timing.
Half Mile TOT TROT
All kids age 11 and under can participate in the Tot Trot, held at 9:45 am inside the Oregon Zoo. Pick up your registration packet first at Cheatham Hall. The Tot Trot covers 0.5 mi., and is for fun. All kids get a longsleeve Tshirt with their entry if they register by 11/16. NOTE: T-shirts in youth sizes are available in kid sizes: extra small, small, medium and large. We will assume you want a kid size shirt UNLESS you answer the question (below) otherwise.
Register by mail so that we receive it by November 16, or online through November 20. T-shirts are NOT guaranteed unless we receive your registration by November 16. Current ORRC members receive a $5 pre-registration discount. If you are not a current ORRC member, join now - $30 individual, or $40 family dues. DAY OF EVENT registration at Cheatham Hall (World Forestry Center) from 7am-7:45. REGISTER NOW and SAVE MONEY!
PACKET PICKUP AND DROP BAGS; TAKE THE MAX!
Early Packet Pickup will be Wednesday, Nov. 24, from 1 pm - 7 pm, at Cheatham Hall (Forestry Center). Avoid the rush! Or, pick up your packet Thanksgiving morning, 7-7:45 am, Cheatham Hall. TAKE THE MAX! Earn $5 in ORRC Bucks for riding MAX to the event. (Good for apparel or ORRC race fees through 2010 Turkey Trot.) Drop bags are available for storing your clothes at Cheatham Hall (packet pickup area). Runners and walkers should be registered, pick up their packets, and be ready to start by 7:45 am. Tot Trot: pick up your packet at Cheatham Hall, and then go to the Amphitheatre in the Oregon Zoo, and be ready by 9:15 am.
T-SHIRTS WILL BE SOLD; "TECH" SHIRTS, TOO!
The main "goodie" is that you will be doing one - supporting a good cause! The registration fee does not include a T-Shirt (except for under-12 kids who pre-register by 11/16), so be sure to include your T-Shirt purchase with your entry. T-Shirt availability is only assured if you pre-register by November 16. Register now! ALSO, did you see those great looking “tech” shirts at last year’s race? Well, “THEY’RE BACK!” Instead of buying a regular long sleeve T-shirt, you can also purchase an ORRC Turkey Trot “tech” (microfiber) shirt. Quantity of tech shirts is limited to first 300 who order them (not guaranteed unless you order it by November 16).
ADMISSION TO THE ZOO
Only paid registrants will be able to enter the Zoo. Discounted admission is available for spectators after 8:00 am. One parent for each registered Tot Trot participant will receive a free admission coupon at the registration area. Remember to pick up your race packet (for the main event, or for the Tot Trot) at Cheatham Hall.
