All About the Grant-A-Starr 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run / Walk
This is the third annual Grant-a-Starr Foundation Family 5K and 1 mile Fun Run / Walk. The mission of the Foundation is to provide monetary and non-monetary support to world-class medical research programs specifically targeted at advancing the field of pediatric diagnostic testing. 100% of net proceeds of this event are given to the Foundation
The 5k Course - Start Time 9:00 AM
The course starts at Sugar Land Memorial Park on University Blvd crossing the bridge onto Commonwealth Blvd. headed east. A u-turn at Gardenview brings you back to University Blvd. where it turns northwest on University Blvd. following University Blvd. until the signal at the University of Houston Sugar Land. A u-turn at University of Houston Sugar Land and the course heads back down University Blvd. to the park entrance. The course is USATF certified.
The 1 Mile Course - Start Time 8:30 AM
The 1 mile event will take place around the lake.
5K - Early registration by Jan 31st, 2011 is $25, by March 4th $30, race day $35
1 Mile - Early registration by Jan 31st, 2011 is $15, by March 4th $20, race day $25
On-line registration closes at 12:00 PM Thursday March 3rd.

Packet Pickup / Late Registration
Packet pick up will be at the Texas Running Company on
Saturday, February 26th from 12:00 to 6:00 PM and
Friday March 4th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Late registration will also be available at this time. The Texas Running Company is located at 15890 Southwest Freeway Suite 600 at Highway 6 Blvd exit . Race day registration will be available at 6:30 AM.
For the five-mile event only, the first 500 registrants will be provided a timing tag with your race bib. Remove and place it on your shoe race morning in order to be scored. The disposable tag then works like a chip.
Enjoy the Post Race Party!
At the conclusion of the race local bands will provide entertainment, refreshments served by local establishments and games for the kids. Awards will be presented to the top finishers in each event.
Everyone MUST be officially registered with a GASFFR race number visible on front.
Please, no headphones or IPods at this race for safety reasons. Wearing headphones or Ipods creates a serious safety hazard. Thanks for adhering to this USATF rule. No strollers allowed in the 5K event.

Release and Indemnity Agreement
I, the undersigned wish to participate or wish to have my child or ward participate (any such participant referred to herein as “the Participant”) in the Grant - A - Starr Family 5k and 1 Mile Fun / Run Walk, March 5, 2011 at Sugar Land Memorial Park, Sugar land, Texas which could involve physical activity before, during and after the activity (“the Activity”). I understand that there is risk that the participant could be injured before, during or as a result of, or in connection with the activity (including transportation to and from the activity) and I wish the Participant to participate in the Activity despite the risk involved.
As for consideration of the Participant being allowed to participate in the Activity, I, for myself, the Participant, (if not myself), and each of our respective successors, administrators, heirs and assigns, hereby ACQUIT, RELEASE AND FOREVER DISCHARGE the Grant – A –Starr Foundation and the Grant – A –Starr Family 5k and 1 Mile Fun / Run Walk, it’s Officers and Volunteers, other Participants in the activity and all those past, present and in the future officers, directors, attorneys, insures agents, suppliers, sponsors, school, school district police emergency personnel referred to herein as (the “Released Parties”) from all past, present and future claims arising out of or accruing to the Participant for and in any way connected with any damages sustained by the Participant before, during, or as a result of, or in any way connected with, the Activity, including actual or punitive damages including personal injury, dismemberment or death sustained in the Participants participation in the Activity, and all results thereof, past, present and future, and to become known, accrued and to accrue, AND INCLUDING ANY CLAIMS OF THE RELEASED PARTIES NEGLIGIBLE, GROSS NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY OR WILLFULL CONDUCT (REGARDLESS IF THE RELEASED PARTIES ARE SOLEYLY, JOINTLY OR CONCURRENTLY NEGLIGENT OR OTHERWISE AT FAULT. .
INDEMNIFY, DEFEND AND HOLD HARMLESS each and all of the released Parties from any past, present and future claims, demeans, actions and causes of action or whatsoever nature or character including claims of the released Parties, NEGLIGIBLE, GROSS NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY OR WILLFULL CONDUCT (REGARDLESS IF THE RELEASED PARTIES ARE SOLEYLY, JOINTLY OR CONCURRENTLY NEGLIGENT OR OTHERWISE AT FAULT which may hereafter be asserted by any person, firm or entity whomsoever, arising out of and accruing to the participant for or in any way connected with the Activity, including actual or punitive damages including personal injury, dismemberment or death sustained in the Participants participation in the Activity, and all results thereof, past, present and future, and to become known, accrued and to accrue. .This obligation to indemnify and hold harmless specifically includes but is not limited to any claims for medical bills, doctors’ bills, hospitalization, nurses’ bills, drugs, therapy, administration and other expenses, including judgment liens, hospitalization liens, attorneys’ fees and any other forms of intervention or lien or any expenses incurred by the Participant which are in any way related to the Activity. .
