Burke Lake Park - Picnic Shelter A

About This Event
This 5K Run and Fun Walk is appropriate for the whole family (children in strollers included!). Event proceeds will go to help citizens of Virginia with mental retardation through the Knights of Columbus KOVAR program and to the St. Bernadette’s School. The race is held at beautiful Burke Lake Park, where a free barbecue lunch will be provided for participants and their families following the race. [Sorry, absolutely NO pets will be permitted on the course or at the shelter ... The event will be held "rain or shine" - ALL ENTRY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE ONCE PAID]
The Course
The course is on a fairly flat, paved road running from Picnic Shelter A, through the park to the lake and then looping back to the shelter.
Awards and Prizes
Award ribbons and prizes will be presented to the participants with the top three finish times within each age/gender category. Official results will be posted on the Reston Runners web site within one week following the event. ALSO, multiple random drawings for several additional Door Prizes will also be conducted for ALL event participants, regardless of finish times. ALL event participants are encouraged to stay for these drawings, held immediately following main the Awards Ceremony; YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!!!
T-Shirt and Registration Packet Pick Up
Entry includes a quality Event T-Shirt. You may pick up your T-Shirt and registration packet starting at 8:00 a.m. the day of the event at the tables at Picnic Shelter A.
Post Race Family Barbecue
This is a Family Event - Enjoy a day at the park with your family! Immediately following the race, the Springfield Council No. 6153 of the Knights of Columbus will host a FREE barbecue for all event participants and their families. Refreshments will be served during and after the Awards Ceremony, which will be preceded and followed by musical entertainment.
Ample parking areas are available throughout the park, however participants are encouraged to arrive early to secure a parking spot in the lot immediately adjacent to Picnic Shelter A.

Waiver and Release
I know that running is a potentially hazardous activity. I also know that there will be traffic on the course route, and I assume the risk of running in traffic. I also assume any and all other risks associated with running this event including, but not limited to, falls, contact with other participants, the affects of the weather including high heat and/or humidity, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Knowing these facts, and in consideration of your accepting my entry fee, I hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators or anyone else who might claim on my behalf, covenant not to sue, and waive, release, and discharge the Knights of Columbus, all sponsors, race officials and volunteers, the County of Fairfax and the State of Virginia including their agents, employees, assigns, or anyone acting on their behalf, from any and all claims of liability for death, personal injury or property damage of any kind or nature whatsoever arising out of, or in the course of, my participation in this event. This Release and Waiver extends to all claims of every kind or nature whatsoever, foreseen or unforeseen, known or unknown. I, the undersigned, further grant permission for the use of any photographs, videotapes, motion pictures, or any other recording of this event for any purpose. The race director reserves the right to reject any entry.
