USAT rule: AGE on 12/31/13 is race age
Each entrant's age is NOT the age on race day. USAT race age is each athlete's age on 12/31/13, the end of the racing year, for all triathlons. Please double-check this at packet pickup on your tear tag. Start waves are determined this way. Age group results are determined this way, as are annual rankings if you are an annual member. Thanks for your attention to this important detail.
20% OFF for TAT entrants at FLS
Prior to the race, come by Finish Line Sports in Sugar Land for your training needs. Mention you are doing TRY ANDY'S TRI and receive 20% OFF discount on any non-sale items, such as ASICS running shoes, TYR goggles, or race clothing. There will be a total of at least 10 kayaks for safety. Swim start is on the far side of the lake on Double Lakes Drive. (Ten-minute walk over there on sidewalk from transition area.) There will be five waves, starting at 7:15am. There are 5 minutes between Waves 1 and 2, then 10 minutes between each wave after. NOTE: Wave starts will be:
Wave 1...7:15am Very small wave of Elite Triathletes (men currently 44:59 or better and women currently 51:59 or better, vying for First Overall), and any Blind athletes with guides. GREEN swim caps provided. Wave 1 athletes ARE eligible for Age Group awards.

There will be about 120-150 athletes in Waves 2-5, but still with PLENTY of room to spread out. Slower swimmers, above 8 minutes, should stay to the far right for shallow water of three feet and four lifeguards on shore. Must be able to swim 10:00 or better for open-water 300 meters in order to participate. Thanks.
Caps will be provided by color for each wave and must be worn for identification. Lake swim. Fifteen kayaks and four lifeguards will patrol the area. Practice in a lake beforehand!
Wetsuits are allowed ONLY if water temp is 78 degrees or below on race morning, per USAT rules. Wetsuits were NOT allowed last year.
