Pre Race Event will take place at Kennedy Park located at 11320 S. Western Ave. Chicago, IL. Post Race Event will take place in the parking lot behind Running Excels. Start of the race will take place at 112th Western Ave and finish at 104th Western Ave.
About This Event
The Emerald Isle Mile is a 1 mile B-tag timed run down Western Ave. It will kick off the start of the Southside Irish Parade with the route taking you north down the parade route. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Chicago. Experience Western Ave. as you never have experienced it before.
Post Race Activities
After the race, runners will be directed to parking lot behind Running Excels located at 10328 S. Western Ave. The award ceremony with take place at 11:30 am. Participants can walk in the parade with Running Excels or are encouraged to stay as spectators.
Top female and male participants will receive a $100.00 gift certificate to Running Excels. Additionally, the top male and female finisher in each age category will receive awards. (9 & under, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 & above).
Race Participant Goody Bag
All pre-registered runners will receive a dri-fit short sleeve t-shirt along with valuable coupons from area sponsor merchants. Packet pick up location: Running Excels 10328 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL 60643. 773.629.8587 Dates/Times: Thurs 3/7 12pm-7pm, Fri. 3/8 12pm-7pm, Sat. 3/9 10am-6pm.
Due to spectators arriving for the race and parade, parking throughout the surrounding neighborhood will be limited. Please consider carpooling, taking public transportation, bicycle or walk.
Results will be posted online at www.active.com, www.mychicagoathlete.com, & www.runningexcels.com.
Timing and Water Stations.
The Emerald Isle Mile is a B-tag timed race. Split times will be called out at the half mile with a clock positioned at the finish. Water will be available at the start and finish of the race. Water tables will NOT be available during the race.
For safety reasons, strollers, bikes, skates and pets are NOT permitted on the course. You must be able to complete the mile within the allotted 15 minutes. If you are unable to complete it, you will be escorted off the course.
Race Day Registration
Race Day Registration will be available from 9:00am-10:30am at Kennedy Park. Race Day Registration will close promptly at 10:30am. Please note: Anyone choosing to register on race day will have to pay with cash. Race Day Registration will not take place if race has reached capacity of 500 runners.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY THIS IS AN IMPORTANT WAIVER OF LIABILITY. READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING AND REGISTERING. In consideration of my acceptance of this entry and other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and adequacy of which I hereby acknowledge, I, the undersigned, intending to be legally bound hereto, and under no disability, for myself, my family, my successors, assignees, heirs, executors, and administrators, forever waive, release, and discharge any and all rights, claims for injuries and/or damages, causes of action, whether in law, equity, or otherwise, known or unknown, that I or any of them may have or acquire against sponsors, coordinating groups, trainers, helpers, the Southside Irish Parade Committee, Running Excels, City of Chicago and any and all other individuals or entities associated with organizing, sponsoring, promoting, or producing the Emerald Isle Mile (the “event”) for any and all injuries and damages suffered by me in connection with said event. I attest that I am physically fit and have adequately trained for the completion of the event. I am aware of the risks and dangers of running and racing, and the precautions that must be taken when running in warm or cold conditions and on uneven surfaces. I agree to abide by any decision of an appointed race official or medical official relative to my ability to safely continue in or complete the event. I further assume and will pay for my own medical, emergency, and related expenses in case of an accident, illness, or incapacity, regardless of whether I have authorized such expenses. No entry will be accepted without this agreed-to Waiver of Liability.
