About This Event
The Red Ribbon 5K Run & Family 1 mile Run/Walk will kick off the 2013 Red Ribbon Week celebration (October 20-25). The Family 1 mile Run/Walk (for children up to 12 years of age and their families) will start at 8:00 a.m.; the 5K wheelchair division will start at 8:25 a.m.; all other 5K Run divisions will start at 8:30 a.m.
The Course
The 5K Run is on a flat-and-fast course within Five-Mile Dam Park and the Blanco Vista neighborhood. The 1-Mile Family Run/Walk is on a paved trail within the Park.
Entry Fee
The Family 1-Mile Run/Walk is a FREE non-competitive event; pre-registration is not required.

For the 5K Run:
Pre-registration (postmarked by 10/12/13): $25.00
Late registration (10/13/13 - race day): $30.00
Race-Day Registration
1-Mile Family Run/Walk: 7:00 to 7:45 a.m.
5K Run: 7:00 to 8:15 a.m.

Checks or money order only on day of race.
5K Run: Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners, the overall male and female Masters winners and the top three (3) male and female finishers in each division, except the wheelchair division, where awards will be presented to the first-place male and female.

Family 1-Mile Run/Walk: Each child who participates will receive a medal as he/she crosses the finish line.

The 5K awards presentation will be held following the conclusion of the 5K Run.
14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & Over, and Wheelchair.
All registered 5K participants will receive a Red Ribbon Run T-shirt.
Free refreshments will be provided for all participants.

Waiver and Release
I, the person submitting this entry, am aware that participating in an event such as a 5K race is a potentially hazardous activity, and that I (or my child, if I am signing as parent or guardian) should not so participate unless physically able. I certify that I am (or my child is) medically fit to participate, and will have sufficiently trained for the event prior to participation. I (and my child, if I am signing as parent or guardian) agree to abide by the rules and the decisions of any event officials relating to participation, and assume all risks associated with participation in the event or any associated event or activities, including (but not limited to) falls, contact with other participants, effects of the weather such as high heat and/or humidity, and traffic or road conditions, all such risks being known and appreciated. In consideration of acceptance of the entry fee, and intending to be legally bound, I (and my child, if I am signing as parent or guardian) and anyone entitled to act on my (or our) behalf, assume all risks associated with participation, and waive any and all claims whatsoever against, and fully release, (1) the Hays Caldwell Council on Alcohol & Drug Abuse, its agents, directors, officers and representatives, (2) the owners of the facilities used for this race and the City of San Marcos, (3) the San Marcos Runners Club and all race-day volunteers, and (4) all event promoters and sponsors and their representatives and successors, from any and all claims, damages, liability, or injury of any kind arising to me or by me, whether based upon negligence or any other theory of law, resulting from my (or my child’s) participation in this event. I grant full permission to any and all of the foregoing to use my (or my child’s) name, or photographs, videotapes, motion pictures, or other recordings of my (or my child’s) participation in this event, without obligation or liability to me (and my child). I also understand that my (and my child’s) entry fee is nonrefundable. I have read this agreement carefully, and understand it, and certify my agreement by my signature below.
