Race Information
At Gazelle Sports we actively pursue, encourage and celebrate a healthy lifestyle. We have a vision to change West Michigan by making it the healthiest region in the country. Last year over 3,000 women participated in the event and we raised $49,973 for Kent County Girls on the Run, the YWCA and Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women (GROW). Gazelle Sports and Nike are proud to host the second annual Gazelle Girl Half Marathon on Sunday, April 13, 2014. Gazelle Sports is hosting this event:

* To honor women and celebrate Title IX
* To actively encourage new runners to participate in the sport
* To build relationships
* Because women’s health impacts family health
* To enhance partnerships within the community
* To raise money for women's charities

Grab your girlfriends, mothers, sisters, cousins, grandmas, aunts, or a co-worker and sign up for this event! You won't regret it! We promise! Whether you are looking to complete your first 5k or half marathon, or want to set a personal record, this race is for you! The half marathon (13.1 miles) will be capped at 4,000 runners who will enjoy Nike tech-t's and a unique sterling silver finisher charm from Imua Jewlery by Terryberry! 5k (3.1 miles) finishers will enjoy a high quality cotton shirt and finisher prize.

Free Gazelle Girl Meetups will start in January 2014. Anyone can come to these free Meetups. All you have to do is sign up! - visit for more details.

For the MEN: Having a women's only event breaks down barriers and the intimidation factor for many women. By hosting this event we know we will impact lives of women that may have never participated in the sport. It's about encouraging women to come together to celebrate what Title IX did for them. We can't host an event like this alone so we hope that men will support us as volunteers! Men are very important to the success of this race! Volunteer link:

Title IX
This event started as a celebration of Title IX, the law that made discrimination between men’s and women’s educational programs illegal. Title IX had its largest impact expanding girls' and women's sports at the high school and college level. This ultimately created professional opportunities for female athletes. Sports wouldn't be what they are today without Title IX.

Were you personally affected by Title IX? We would love to connect with you and hear YOUR story.
