About This Event
We all got the same message in our training: Observation is a critical component of good teaching. And we know it is true. Still, the great majority of us struggle with this commitment for the entirety of our teaching careers. But the truth is that without intentional observation, teachers will not become masters of their craft. Their growth is stunted.

This presentation will explore the challenges of observation, ways to overcome them, and the many inspirations they allow.

Wendy Calise is currently the Head of School at Countryside Montessori School in Northbrook, Illinois. She is an international presenter, a school consultant, and director of the Montessori Teachers Institute for Professional Studies (MTIPS). Wendy began her Montessori journey as a student at Countryside Montessori, which was founded by her parents, Annette and Frank Kulle. She graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in psychology, followed by AMI Montessori training at the primary and elementary levels. She has 18 years of teaching experience, eight in primary and ten in a 6-12 elementary class. She has written, presented, and evaluated curricula for the 9-12 age group in subjects not fully explored in the AMI elementary training. In 2006 she completed the 40-hour Mediation Skills Training course at Northwestern University School of Continuing Studies. Wendy is the mother of three children, all of whom are Montessori students.

A light breakfast is included in the seminar registration fee. Breakfast will be available at 8:30 a.m. The seminar presentation begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m.
