About This Event
A family friendly event benefiting Vernonia Cares Food Bank - a 10K Run, 5K Run/Walk.
Our 10K route takes you running 5K on the Linear Trail (along Highway 47 South towards Highway 26) and then doubling back to end at Anderson Park. The 5K Run/Walk follows the path from Anderson Park north to Vernonia Lake and back again.
The 10K starts at 8am, 5K event at 8:05am, with registration/ packet pick up 7-7:45am.
T-Shirt and Registration Packet pick-up
You may pick up your registration packet on the morning of the event 7-7:45am in Anderson Park. T-Shirts can only be guaranteed to those who register prior to July 30th.
Day of Race Registration
You may register on the day of the event (7-7:45am) for either event - T-Shirts cannot be guaranteed for any registration after July 30th
Medals for first place winners, male and female in the 5 & 10K runs and 1st/2nd place walkers.
The 10K takes the linear path along Highway 47 South towards Highway 26,running the distance of 5K and then doubling back, ending at Anderson Park.
The 5K event takes a northerly direction and follows a path from Anderson Park to Vernonia Lake and back.
Both courses are flat & fast and enjoy sections that are shaded by beautiful trees.
Parking is available along the roads in Vernonia close to Anderson Park (fees may apply for parking within the park).
What to do in Vernonia if I am visiting?
Vernonia is a small town in beautiful surroundings. See http://www.vernonia-or.gov/ for information. Local amenities include stores, coffee shop, eateries and parks.
Stub Stewart State Park is only 10 miles or so south of Vernonia - see http://www.oregon.gov/OPRD/PARKS/STEWART/park_features.shtml for more details.
Children, strollers and dogs
All of the above are welcome on the 5K event routes but do require supervision to avoid issues with runners etc.
Any dog 'accidents' need to be cleaned up by owners.
Kids participating need a waiver signed by a parent.
Reason for holding this Event
Vernonia's local food bank is a valuable asset to the community and supports many needy families.
This event supports the wellness of our community in so many ways - encouraging poeple to be active and enjoy the local trails.

Waiver and Release
In consideration of the foregoing, I, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, personal representatives, successors and assigns, waive and release any and all rights, claims and courses of action I have or may have against The Event, its Primary Sponsor and its affiliates, their agents, employees, officers, directors, successors and assigns, the Event Management Company, Inc., the City, the Park District, and any and all sponsors, their representatives and successors, that may arise as a result of my participation in The Event and any pre- and post- event activities. I attest and verify that I am physically fit and have sufficiently trained for the completion of this event and my physical condition has been verified by a licensed medical doctor. Further, I hereby grant full permission to any and all of the foregoing to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose including commercial advertising.
