About This Event
Finish off your triathlon season right, or try your first multi-sport event! The Beaver Fever consists of a 5k road run/18mi bike (road and mountain bike divisions)/5k XC course . Prizes are awarded to the top team and top three individuals in each category. The first 150 registered participants receive a pair of Beaver Fever Duathlon cycling socks (You've got enough t-shirts!).
The Road Run
The 5k run (Google Map) leaves the Philomath Middle School and travels over country roads and residential streets on the edge of Philomath. Participants then transition to either the road or mountain bike course.

The 18.1 Mile Road Bike
The 18.1 mile road course (Google Map) makes a loop south of Philomath on smooth country roads. It features a moderate hill in the first five miles. The two mile Decker hill, which peaks at 720 ft at mile 9.3, is followed by an exciting descent. The usual mountain bike course will not be open this year do to logging in Starker forest. A mountain bike division is available.
The XC course
Your final leg will be on the high school XC course. It is a fast and flat course with a 300 meter track finish.
Prizes and Race Post-Race Raffle
All members of the top relay team and the top individuals in each category will receive awards. There will also be a raffle of merchandise donated from local businesses in Corvallis and surrounding areas.
Race days in the past have turned out to be both sunny and warm... or foggy, rainy and cold. If it is cold, there will be hot cider and hot cocoa in the transition area. Please dress accordingly.
Relay Race Team
The relay race teams may have either 2 or 3 participants. Typically, 1 person runs the 5ks and the other person rides the bike but 3 person relays are acceptable. ONE person should register the relay team but all team members must sign waivers at the event. Each member will receive a pair of Beaver Fever Duathlon cycling socks.
Nutrition/Post-Race Refreshments
Sports Drink will be available in the transition area and half-way through both run portions of the race. Following the race, bagels, bananas, energy drink, hot cocoa, cider and water will be provided for all participants and spectators.
Day of Race Registration/Packet Pick-up
Packet pick-up on Saturday, October 17, will be at NW Multi Sport - located at 310 SW 2nd Street Corvallis, OR. from 3-5pm. Packets may also be picked up on race day beginning at 7:30 am at the northeast corner of Philomath Middle School, near the transition area. Participants may register for the race on Saturday, October 17, or on the day of the race. Relay team members will need to fill out their waivers during packet pick-up.
Registration Fee
The registration fee of $30 for individuals and $40 for teams includes a pair of SockGuy (TM) brand Beaver Fever Duathlon socks for the first 150 registered participants, food during and after the race, full timing splits, entry into the raffle drawing and lots of fun. The fee increases by $5 after October 10.

Waiver and Release
I, the undersigned, acknowledge that I have read the following and voluntarily agree to its terms and conditions to participate in the above listed event/activity (hereafter referred to as Beaver Fever Duathlon) I have full knowledge of the facts and circumstances surrounding the Beaver Fever Duathlon described above and am voluntarily participating in the Beaver Fever Duathlon, which may include actions and events that are risky and dangerous, including from which bodily injury, up to and including mortal injury, may occur. I have the physical capacity reasonably necessary to engage in Beaver Fever Duathlon; however, in case of an emergency, accident or illness, I give permission to be treated by medical professionals if necessary and agree to be responsible for any expenses incurred as a result thereof. I understand the Oregon Tort Claims Act (ORS 30.260 to 30.300) permits the State of Oregon, acting by and through the State Board of Higher Education, on behalf of Oregon State University, its officers, employees, and agents (hereafter referred to as UNIVERSITY) to accept responsibility only for the negligent acts of UNIVERSITY. UNIVERSITY is prohibited from accepting any liability for the acts, omissions and conduct of person participating in activities. I will indemnify and hold UNIVERSITY harmless with respect to any and all claims, injuries, and costs associated with participation in this Beaver Fever Duathlon. I recognize and acknowledge that I am not an agent or employee of the UNIVERSITY, that I may not and will not represent myself as such, and that I cannot and will not bind or obligate the UNIVERSITY in any way. I will assume all responsibility and risks associated with my participation, including all risk of property damage and injury to others and to myself, regardless if occurring before, during or after the period of the Beaver Fever Duathlon. I agree to comply with all of the rules and conditions of participating in the Beaver Fever Duathlon, including UNIVERSITY Rules and Regulations and applicable laws or rules where the Beaver Fever Duathlon is occurring. I am aware that if I provide a vehicle not owned and operated by UNIVERSITY for transportation to, at, or from the Beaver Fever Duathlon, or if I am a passenger in such vehicle, UNIVERSITY is not responsible for any damage caused by or arising from such transportation. I understand that I will be expected to accept full responsibility and liability for myself and my passengers and that I have automobile liability insurance in accordance with Oregon Insurance Requirements or the state in which my vehicle is licensed.
