Class size and the wait list

This class has filled. We are currently accepting wait list sign ups. Please proceed with the registration process. You won't be charged.

We will contact you to let you know about openings. We are accepting 25 people on the wait list. Last year we were able to get everyone on the wait list into the class and into the race. Please plan on attending the first group run and session even if you remain on the wait list.

We are hopeful that we'll be able to accommodate everyone who wants to run with us!

Our training philosophy

Our training philosophy is based on baby steps forward: We will work with you to get you to your fitness goals!

This 10-week program includes twice weekly coached group runs, a training plan to follow on your own the rest of the week, a weekly newsletter with training tips, access to coaches and our training community, clinics on running skills and other fitness/health topics, a technical running shirt for the race, and a lot of camaraderie and support.

Our first meeting will me on Tuesday, August 12. The class meets Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at Fleet Feet Menlo Park in downtown Menlo Park and on Saturday mornings at 8 a.m. at the store as well as varying park locations.

The training plan, Saturday meet-ups, and schedule of clinics will be distributed to participants at the first meeting.

The Nike Women's Half Marathon event

This 10 week program works toward the Nike Women's half marathon October 19 in San Francisco. We'll start with a 4 mile distance and build from there.

The NWM race is beautiful and hilly, starting in Union Square in San Francisco. It finishes along the Great American Highway, where it is typically foggy.

The NWM race sells out every year. Entries are available by lottery, through Nike-sponsored training programs like ours, and through fund-raising team programs. The race raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Our 10-week training class costs $150. We have a limited number guaranteed entries to the NWM race made available to us through Nike (cost in 2013 was $175). We will make these available to registrants in order of first signed-up first.

Please note that there is no marathon option in the Nike Women's race this year, unlike in previous years.
